In 2016 CAT Traffic bidding consortium has been awarded by ASFINAG to supply mobile automatic toll vignette enforcement systems. Using a very high resolution video camera, the system is capable to automatically identify the existence and position of the vignette on the vehicle´s windshield as well as automatically check its validity. Meaning, the position of the small wholes within the vignette (in case of 3-month or 10-day vignette) must be identified to allow a statement on the validity of the vignette. In case of toll violation suspect, the data set including photos will be transferred to ASFINAG´s enforcement office.
