In the year of company foundation (2003), CAT Traffic became exclusive sales and service partner for the “Vehicle Weighing” product range of IRD International Road Dynamics Inc., Canada, which acquired the Traffic Telematics Business from PAT GmbH, Germany, the same year.

Due to growing business and restricted office space, CAT Traffic moved into a new much larger office building with integrated laboratory, production facilities and technical service areas. A system demonstration site with gantry is available as well. CAT Traffic is also present with own companies in Linz (Austria) and Poznan (Poland).

CAT Traffic is active in the following fields of business:

  • Weigh-in-Motion network on German highways (BAST, BAG, Police) as well as more than 60 weight-control stations in e.g. Poland, Austria, Switzerland and Tanzania
  • More than 200 solar operated traffic counters for region Tirol (Austria) and Sotchi (Russia)
  • Video based journey time measurement system on more than 100 routes in the Greater Munich area
  • Mobile, video based traffic data collection in more than 40 cities in Germany, Austria, Poland, Luxemburg and Switzerland
  • ANPR systems for the passenger car video toll system as well as for the ETC truck tolling system in Austria (customer: Siemens, Kapsch TrafficCom, ASFINAG)
  • Delivery of 30 enforcement vehicles with integrated dynamic in-car ANPR system as well as RFID system for control of ETC truck tolling system in Slowakia (partners: Q-Free, Skytoll, Toll Police)
  • More than 100 ANPR systems for control of Serbian border (partner: Siemens)
  • Full service contract with Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) covering temporary installation and operation of more than 40 ANPR cameras to successfully support the crime case „Highway Sniper“
